need a shielded serial modem cable with a 25-

pin female to 25-pin male connector (also called

a “DB25/DB25M cable”):

How to Connect the Modem

to the Computer

1. Turn off your computer and any attached

devices, such as a printer.

2. Connect the serial cable to the modem and

to the computer. When looking for the

serial port label on the back of your

computer, look for ports labeled COM,

MODEM, RS-232, or SERIAL.

DO NOT select AUX, GAME, LPT, or

PARALLEL. (If your ports are not labeled,
